The Brentwood Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) was developed in 1997 and provides an important role toward reducing traffic collisions through enforcement, education and engineering. The TSU unit is currently comprised of three Officers and a Sergeant. The TSU officers are state certified to ride police motorcycles and enforce traffic violations. they currently ride BMW motorcycles and use a Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle for enforcement. 

The TSU is responsible for handling traffic complaints, investigating collisions and issuing citations. Their mission is to remain highly visible and enhance roadway safety for vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians. The TSU participates in traffic education programs, commercial vehicle enforcement operations and traffic campaigns such as: Click it or Ticket, Avoid the 25 (DUI enforcement), VSET (Stolen Vehicle Task Force) and "Obey The Sign or Pay the Fine". 

The Traffic Safety Unit encourages Brentwood citizens to call the Police Department with any traffic concerns or use the "Tell a Cop" program for non-emergencies at (925) 809-7826.
